Care Services

Work closely with Food Hub staff, volunteers, and clients
Answer the phone, book and confirm appointments
Use computer programs to enter data and information
Monitor stock and people in The Pantry

Deal with clients' personal information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion

Work closely with Food Hub staff, volunteers and clients
Restock shelves with products supplied by the Warehouse team
Clean shelves while restocking and remove garbage and compost materials
Monitor the cleanliness of the Food Hub
Food Production

Assist in the ongoing care and maintenance of indoor and outdoor growing spaces
Weeding, watering, pruning, transplanting, and general garden upkeep

Start and maintain crops from seed
Filling trays, sowing seeds, labelling, and transplanting seedlings

Assist with harvesting fresh produce
Weighing products and preparing vegetables and greens for distribution

Help maintain community garden plots and shared growing spaces
Planting, watering, seasonal cleanup, and general upkeep
Warehouse

Sort and repack all non-perishable and perishable products entering the Warehouse
Clean all bins, containers, and workspaces during and after sorting
Remove cardboard, garbage, and compost materials
Move products from one area of the Warehouse to another and into the Food Hub and Pantry

Repackage bulk products by portioning according to measuring guidelines
Seal, weigh, label, and transfer portioned products
Clean and sanitize portioning tables, utensils, and containers between each product
Follow good hygiene and safe food handling practices

Groups, Teams, Friends & Family!
We are always happy to have people who want to volunteer as a group! We welcome groups as a team-building activity, from corporate opportunities to youth sports teams. It’s a great way to build community spirit. If you are interested in bringing your team, family members or friends, click below for more information and to register!
HOW TO APPLY
We have created a fun, open and friendly space where individuals and groups are welcome to come make our community a better place.
We invite you to come join us! We accept applications for individuals over the age of 18, and can arrange for youth volunteers to come in under supervision.
Please complete the application form below and return it by email to volunteers@reddeerfoodbank.com or fax it to 403-346-1551. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to set up an appointment for a personal interview and an orientation tour of our facility.
