Food and Fund Drives
Fill the Table
Bring your people together to help put food on a neighbour's table. Whether you're taking part on your own, with your family and friends, or through your workplace, school or community group, organizing a food or fund drive is a simple way to support the Red Deer Food Bank.
Collect food, raise funds or do both.
Start by telling us about your drive
Let us know what you're planning before your drive begins. Our short registration form asks when and where your drive will take place, who to contact and what support you would like.
This helps us keep track of community drives, follow up with you and support your efforts where possible. You can request donation bins, promotional materials, an online donation link & social media support through the form.
Choose how you'll help
Collect food
Set up a collection spot and choose a goal that works for you: fill a few boxes, collect 100 items or invite each person to bring a grocery bag of food.
Raise Funds
Financial donations help us purchase foods that are harder to collect through traditional food drives, including meat, eggs, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Raise Both
Collect food and share your drive's online donation link so everyone can choose how they'd like to help.
How to organize your drive
1. Register your plans
Tell us your drive dates, collection location and main contact. Request any support you need before you begin.
2. Pick your dates and set a goal
Choose a start and end date, then set a food collection goal, a fundraising goal or both.
Taking part on your own? Your goal can be as simple as one box of food.
Organizing a group? Choose a Table Captain to keep everyone informed.
A Table Captain rallies their people, sets a goal, shares the challenge and keeps their team motivated to help Fill the Table.
3. Set up your collection
Choose a visible, accessible spot for food donations. Use sturdy boxes or request to borrow Food Bank donation bins. Before borrowing bins, contact us to confirm availability and arrange collection and return.
For online donations, request your drive's online donation link and QR code before printing or sharing your materials. If you plan to accept cash or cheques, make cheques out to Red Deer Food Bank Society.
4. Spread the word
Tell people what you're collecting, why it matters and when and where to donate.
Use the supplied logo files and follow our brand guide when creating your own materials.
5. Keep people involved
Share a few reminders and progress updates. Try a friendly department challenge, invite each family member to fill a bag or ask your employer about matching financial donations.
6. Deliver your donations and celebrate
Contact us before your drive ends to confirm drop-off arrangements, especially for a large donation. Drop off your collected food donations, cash and cheques at the Red Deer Food Bank, Bay 10, 7429 49 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta. Online donations made through your drive's online donation link go directly to the Food Bank.
Let us know you've finished and share photos you're comfortable having us use, with permission from anyone pictured. We'd love to thank you and celebrate your efforts.
