Goal: 30,000 lbs of Food in ONE Day - Here's How You Can Help

On April 25, 2026, the Red Deer Food Bank is asking our community to do something remarkable together: collect 30,000 pounds of food in a single day. It's a bold goal — and with Red Deer behind it, we know it's possible. Here's how you can be part of it.

Watch for Your Yellow Bag

In the days leading up to April 25, keep an eye on your doorstep. In partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Home Church, we're delivering yellow donation bags to homes across the city as part of a community wide food drive.

All you have to do is fill your bag with non-perishable food items and leave it on your front step the morning of April 25. Our volunteers will come by and pick it up. That's it. Easiest donation you'll ever make. Or you can come visit us and drop it off in person!

Open House, April 25 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Want to see your food bank up close? We're throwing open our doors for a community Open House and we'd love to have you drop by. Self-guided tours are available all day, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate and how your donations make an impact.

During your visit, you can:

  • Learn about Kitchen 49, our social enterprise cooking classes

  • Explore Garden 49 and see how we grow fresh food year round

  • Walk through our Food Hub, where community members access food in a grocery style setting

  • Check out our brand new dining room and event space

  • Purchase fresh produce and microgreens grown right on site

  • Discover volunteer opportunities and how to get involved

  • Grab some great food - we'll have the smoker going all day!

Every Pound Stays Local

Every item collected on April 25 goes directly toward feeding individuals and families right here in Red Deer and across central Alberta. Whether you fill a yellow bag on your doorstep or come spend the afternoon with us, your contribution matters.

Rain or shine, we'll be here.
