PANTRY PROGRAM

An open shelf system where Red Deer residents can come in and supplement their food supplies.

The Pantry is the area where we put products that don’t get used in our Hamper program. Our Pantry is for Red Deer residents facing food insecurity.

Pantry hours are 9 am - 4 pm, closed 12:30 - 1 pm for cleaning. Feel free to drop in and check to see if there is anything you need to get to the end of the week.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Pantry is typically stocked with bread and potatoes; it may also have perishable food items. On occasion, there may be non-food items available as well.

Red Deer residents can visit the Pantry once a day, two to three times per week.

We ask that patrons stop in a 2-3 times a week at most, so that we have enough food for as many people that need it. We estimate that 300 people per day visit our Pantry, and we want to be able to meet that demand.

Items in the Pantry come from community donations. We have a good deal of bread and baked goods available, cookies and crackers, snack foods and meal kits, salad dressings and condiments, even extra produce. These items are always changing depending on donations, and vary from day to day.

“LESS THAN PERFECT”

Because we are receiving donated products, sometimes packages get damaged. Boxes that are broken are taped securely after ensuring no exposure or loss of contents. Dented cans that are still deemed safe may also be found on the Pantry shelves. Rest assured that any product we put in the Pantry or send out in hampers meet Alberta Health Services guidelines.
